Message from the Superintendent 3.29.2021

Hello Medical Lake School District Families,

As you may know the American Academy of Pediatric (AAP) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have announced that the distance of 3 feet is safe for students in classrooms while following safety protocols.  Governor Inslee and the Washington State Department of Health followed suit and announced that change on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

The purpose of my message is to inform you that with the new guidelines, we now can have our middle school and high school students return to 5 days a week to in-person instruction starting on Monday, April 19, 2021.  This will allow us the time to set up classrooms, plan spaces to eat lunch, and look at changes to bus routes to meet the need of more students attending school on a daily basis.  This will also give us the opportunity to monitor the Covid count case for Spokane County 7 days after the break.

Our elementary schools have been attending on a daily basis and have handled the return of students extremely well.  So we are excited to see all of our students in grades 6-12 on a daily basis as well.  Keys to our success have included following all masking and hand-washing protocols and we will continue to do so moving forward.

I want to thank you for your patience throughout the last year as you supported your children at home and in transitioning them back to in-person instruction full time.  For our currently enrolled Connect Plus students and their families your schedules will remain the same.   I hope you all will be able to enjoy Spring Break next week, April 5th through the 9th. If you have any questions, please contact your student's school.

Take care and we look forward to seeing Every Student, Every Day.
