Facilities Planning
Background
In 2023, the district began a Long-Range Facility Planning Process. Through a state-funded grant, the district commissioned an independent facilities Study and Survey, which included third-party evaluations of each of the district's facilities, student enrollment projections and space needs, and potential state-funded School Construction Assistance Program (SCAP) funding that may be available. As a part of the comprehensive review, a series of workshops were held with stakeholders to garner broad perspectives on long-range capital improvement needed within the district. Tours of each of the buildings were performed, and surveys were conducted to poll the broader school community to identify the top needs at each of the campuses. The Long-Range Planning Committee was then tasked with identifying and prioritizing a comprehensive list of needs within the district.
In December 2025, the Medical Lake School District Board of Directors tasked the Superintendent to develop a Community Facilities Task Force Committee (CFTF). The Committee is charged to review the findings and recommendations from the 2023 Long Range Planning Committee, and undergo the technical review, stakeholder engagement, and prioritization process in order to deliver long-term capital planning direction for district consideration on or before June 23, 2026.
Applications for Committee membership were sought, seeking a broad representation of community stakeholders to serve.
