Your rights to COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) and continued medical coverage:


If you are an exiting employee of the Medical Lake School District, you have the right to continue insurance benefits with our group under certain circumstances.  As a former employee, the law states that you may continue insurance with our group for up to 18 months.

With COBRA rights, you may continue your coverage through your group’s current medical policy.  COBRA coverage can be dropped at any time.  The rates for COBRA coverage change from year to year.  Current rates are available on the Benefits Information Page.  If you are enrolled in COBRA coverage during our open enrollment period, you are entitled to open enrollment rights.  Open enrollment information can be found on our Benefits Information Page.

Even if you do not want to exercise your COBRA rights, you will receive Continuation Coverage information from the Health Care Authority upon exiting the Medical Lake School District.
