EWU Application Open Lab
An Eastern Washington University will be on campus Wednesday November 12th from 8am-12pm to help students complete their EWU application. Students need to sign-up in the counseling center to participate. In addition students will also need to have the following things:
1. Unofficial copies of their high school transcript (this will be provided by counselor)
2. ACT or SAT test scores
3. Information about how long you have lived in Washington State
4. Personal information about one or more parents, guardians, or emergency contacts
5. Personal IDs like your driver's license, social security number, visa or green card #
6. A credit card or your checking account information to pay for the application fee approximately $50. Those students who cannot afford the application fee see Mrs. Rippee or Mrs. Wilbanks
After you apply you will need to do the following:
1. Mail your official ACT or SAT scores
2. Mail your official transcript- see Ms. Kim in the counseling center
Art Institute of Seattle Visit
A representative from the Art Institute of Seattle will be on campus Friday October 10th during 2nd period (from 8:50-9:34). If students are interested in listening to the presentation they can sign-up in the counseling center
Common Application Open Lab
Counselors are hosting an open lab to help seniors complete the Common Application Thursday October 23rd from 8-12. There are over 500 colleges and universities that accept the Common Application across the United States including: Gonzaga University and Whitworth University.
Students who are interested in participating can sign-up in the counseling center and will be excused from class. Students should start preparing 1-3 application essays that they can use on the application and those who want to submit applications will need some form of payment for each college application fee. If your family cannot afford the application fee have your student see Mrs. Rippee or Mrs. Wilbanks for fee waivers.
Western Washington University (WWU) Application Open Lab
Thursday November 6th from 8am-12pm a representative from WWU will be hosting an open lab at Medical Lake High School to help seniors apply to WWU. Students interested need to sign-up in the counseling center in order to participate. Students will also need the following:
1. Transcript -Counselor will provide it for you
2. Essay:Students are asked to respond to one of the prompts below as part of the application for admission. Most essay responses are about 500 words, but this is only a recommendation, not a firm limit. Feel free to take what space is necessary for you to tell your story.
3. Activities list: a list of meaningful activities and achievements grades 9-12. Make sure and list them in order of importance to you, include the name of the organization or involvement, include your position or role, include the length of involvement, and share a short description about the activities that are most significant to you. You do not need to describe all activities
4. Application fee approximately $60 in the form of check or credit card. If you are unable to afford the application fee please see Mrs. Rippee or Mrs. Wilbanks.
5. Unofficial SAT or ACT scores
Spokane National College Fair
Permission slips are available in the counseling center for junior and senior students to attend the Spokane National College Fair Wednesday November 5th at the Spokane Convention Center. Permission slips are due to Ms. Kim no later than Friday October 31st. Buses leave at 8am and return approximately at 12pm.

Senior All Nighter Information
Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the senior parent night! For those unable to attend there are packets of information available in the counseling center.
Malenna King, the senior all nighter co-chair, wanted to share the names of the Facebook pages where parents can get more information about the senior all nighter and other events for the class of 2015. The name of the senior all nighter Facebook page is Oh the places you'll go-MLHS Senior All Nighter and the Facebook page with deadlines, ASB fundraisers and other information for the class of 2015 is Students of Today, Leaders of -class of 2015. You can find these pages by typing the names in the top search bar on Facebook.

Senior All Nighter Committee Upcoming Meetings
If you are interested in volunteering to help plan and execute the Senior All Nighter for the Class of 2015 the meetings will be held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm at the Pizza Factory.
