Dear Students and Parents:

I would like to welcome you to 7^th grade language arts. This year will be quite a change due to having seven different teachers, so organization and time management will become very important. The rules for this class are pretty simple—respect! When I am talking, you are not. When coming into the classroom, you will come in quietly and immediately take your seat. The plan will be on the Smart Board and you need to begin working on filling out your planner and begin working. I expect you to be in your seats when the bell rings. Please come prepared. Below is a breakdown of grades offered in my class.

SSR (sustained silent reading) beginning of class 10 pts.

SSR (Friday) 25 pts.

Planner check (Friday) 10 pts.

Grammar Assignments 100 pts.

Writing Assignments 200 pts

Tests 300 pts.

Research Project 500 pts.

Book of Self 1/2 of quarter grade

Late assignments can be a problem. Daily assignments are very important and are expected  to be  turned in on time. If it is late, it is scored it at 50%.

The 7^th grade year will focus on writing, reading, spelling, and grammar. This is one of the three Writing WASL years, so we will focus quite a lot on writing. You will also have weekly spelling tests on Friday. Responsibility is the key to success this year.
