The Building is Almost Done!
Right after Christmas, the sixth grade classes moved into their new wing, and the seventh grade classes moved in on January 17. Construction crews are still working on the gym, stage and the locker rooms, and they are scheduled to be complete by the first week of February. Please join us on Monday, February 6 for an Open House from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. There will be a brief Dedication Ceremony at 6:30 pm in the new gym.
Thank you, Medical Lake, for our new addition! |

Poster Contest Winner
Eighth grader, Jeremy Ryan, recently created a winning poster for the Spokane Recycles annual poster contest, which encourages recycling in young people throughout the Spokane district. Students must enter a poster of their own making that relates to that year's theme. The posters are then judged based on how much the poster relates to the theme, as well as age-appropriate illustrations and several other criteria. After the initial judging, the top thirty "finalists," out of 200 total entries, proceed to possibly have their poster shown in that year's Spokane Recycles calendar. Thirteen of these students have their entire poster shown--one for each month plus the front cover. Jeremy's poster is featured on the front cover. Congratulations, Jeremy! |

{Math is Cool} Math is Cool
Medical Lake Middle School sent 15 student to Mt. Spokane High School on Friday, November 4 to compete in a regional math competition. Our four teams competed against 69 other division two teams and made the district proud. Both the 8th grade and 7th grade teams took home impressive 5th place overall trophies and earned an opportunity for 8 students to compete at the state level "Masters" competition. The “Masters” competition was held Saturday, December 3 in Moses Lake and our students did an outstanding job and represented our district well. The 8th grade team finished 4th place bringing home a “Masters” level trophy and the 7th grade team finished 8th place in their division.
The success at both regionals and masters can be attributed to the hard work of each individual and the cumulative work of all their current and past teachers. As a building and a district we are very proud of all our students and staff!
